Grounds of The Dan Ryan Woods
To have this little slice of nature within our city limits is quite extraordinary. When you step into the grounds at 87th & Western Ave, you are transported to another day, another time. The history of this land and the incredible way the Forest Preserve of cook county maintains these ground are quite remarkable. Grab a soccer ball, pack a picnic blanket and some snacks, use the exercise stairs, bike paths, sledding hills, whatever your pleasure. Added bonus, it’s all free of charge; mother nature at its finest, right in our own backyard. You can even walk right under 87th street from North Beverly through the underground pedestrian tunnels built in the 1930’s. The Vanderpoel Art Museum
Located in the Ridge Park Cultural Center on Longwood Drive, this exquisite collection of Art rivals that of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and the Art Institute of Chicago.
